virus is also taking a toll on Midstate infants and children. 5 month
old Crews is sleeping peacefully, but that wasn't the case last week.
His parents rushed him to Vanderbilt after he ran a high fever and began
having trouble breathing. Doctors diagnosed him with Respiratory
Syncytial Virus or RSV. The virus is extremely common, with symptoms
similar to a common cold with one notable difference.
"An RSV
infection itself doesn't mean a child has to go to the emergency room or
be admitted to the hospital," says Vandy Children's Hospital Dr. John
Williams. "The reason children are admitted with severe RSV infection is
if they're not breathing well enough and getting enough oxygen in their
blood or if they're not able to breast feed or take a bottle."
Doctors
say most children will get RSV by the time they're 2 years old. The
majority will fight the virus just fine, but the very young and those
with weakened immune systems are at great risk and may require
hospitalization.

Couple's bodies found in their Blount County home
May 20, 2013 20:14 GMT
LOUISVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Blount (blunt) County sheriff's office says preliminary results of autopsies on the bodies of a couple found dead in their home in Louisville (LEW'-ihs-vil) show their deaths are consistent with murder-suicide.
Marian O'Briant said in an email that it appears 54-year-old Steven Adkins shot 53-year-old Rebecca Adkins, then shot himself.
O'Briant said a family member found the bodies Sunday night. It wasn't clear how long they had been dead.
