The following items are needed in these kits.
-thick socks

-gloves
-knit caps
-hand/feet warmer packets

The churches are asking for all sizes in those items to be donated, particularly XL, 2XL and 3XL.

Donation times and locations are as follows:
New Livingstone Church
330 Hancock St, 615-228-4614
Jan. 6 (Sunday) - Jan. 9(Wed)
Sunday 8am-10am & 12:15-2pm,
Mon-Wed, 7-10am & 5-7pm.

“We hope to never see another day when someone dies on the steps of a church which was originally established as a place for people to find refuge. On the heels of a holiday that tugs at our hearts and appeals to our good will, we are humbled to share in such a meaningful and worthwhile endeavor that benefits hurting humanity,” said Mitchell.East Nashville Churches Aim to Help the Homeless Battle the Cold

Take-out beer allowed again
May 25, 2013 19:58 GMT

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A change in state law means that officials are no longer cracking down on restaurants selling takeout craft beer.

The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/Zl8y7f) reports the new regulations mean the Smoky Mountain Brewery in Maryville is now serving "growlers" again. Growlers are jugs filled with draft beer that customers can take with them when the leave.

State regulators began cracking down on the practice earlier this year, which led to complaints from restaurants and patrons.

The Copper Cellar family of restaurants stopped selling takeout beer in all four of its East Tennessee locations for a time, but made changes in some locations that allowed sales to resume before the new law was passed.

Now, all their locations are able to offer the beer for off-site consumption.
