NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Out of the storm stories we're hearing from around the mid-state, we're getting some incredible stories of survival. Take Ivory Oliver for example. During the storm, Oliver became concerned about her two sisters and her 10-year-old niece who live on 12th Avenue North in North Nashville. She decided to go check on them and found a tree had landed on their home! The family was trapped inside. She removed an air conditioning unit and pulled the women and the girl out one by one. One of the women later said they heard tornado sirens coming from TSU and moved out of the living room just in the nick of time.

Work beginning on Civil War park in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Civil War landmark in East Tennessee will soon become a low-impact park that allows public access and preserves the area's historical integrity.
High Ground Park is being created at the site of Fort Higley in south Knoxville, which was manned by Union soldiers during the Siege of Knoxville in 1863.
The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/11Vb6XJ) reports the park is scheduled to open on Nov. 27, which is the 150th anniversary of the construction of Fort Higley.
Bob Young, who has been involved in the effort to preserve the site, says it is "a treasure."
