WBFF Fox 45 :: Music City Goes Red for Women
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - You may have noticed plenty of people wearing red Friday. It was all to raise awareness about heart disease in women. Everyone was getting involved on "National Wear Red Day". Even the newborns at Baptist Hospital are sporting tiny red hats. The caps were knitted by volunteers. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, but it can also be prevented.

"Walk around the city, anything you can do to stay active," says St. Thomas Hospital's Dawn Rudolph. "Know your numbers. If you're not sure of what your cholesterol is, go to your primary care physician, talk with him or her, get a plan for yourself. It's that important."

The UPS building in Donelson is also bathed in red tonight. The Center on Massman Drive reminds women to stay heart healthy.

June 19, 2013 16:41 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Gov. Bill Haslam says chief deputy Claude Ramsey is retiring at the end of August to spend more time with his family in Chattanooga.

The Republican governor said in a news release on Wednesday that the 70-year-old Ramsey has been integral to his administration on key initiatives that include civil service reform, economic development efforts, workforce development training and improved operation of state government.

Ramsey was elected to the General Assembly in 1972 where he served four years in the House. He was Hamilton County's mayor for 16 years.

His last day on the job is August 31.
