It was a chance for the community to come together and remember the three people that were killed in Bellevue.
Hundreds of people honored the lives of 14 year old Jonathan Culpepper - his mother Michelle Pinkowski and his grandmother Marylea Jordan.
This vigil was actually the work of students from Hillwood High School and Bellevue Middle School.
It is just one step in a long grieving process for more than two hundred students who were classmates and friends of Jonathan Culpepper.
Cameron Moore says, “I really miss him we used to hang out in the summer and we would ride bikes.”
Jonathan, his mother and his grandmother were allegedly stabbed to death by their neighbor in their home on beech bend drive in Bellevue.
Jonathan's nine year old sister was able to escape.
Arnold Marks says, “I just can't believe it happened I mean it is not something you see everyday in Bellevue its like something you see in a movie I mean it is just not real.”
But as the reality of a lost friend sinks in- these students have come together to lean on each other for support- and reflect on the time they had with Jonathan Culpepper.
Sapphire Tabor says, “We shouldn't be angered that he was taken away from us but thankful that he was in our life and that we could spend that time that he was here.”
Parents say events like this will help with the grieving process.
Deanna Sensabaugh says, “I am so proud of these kids they have really all pulled together and tried to make this happen -the parents kind of just took a step back and let them do it.”
Several of the students say they plan to attend the memorial service for Jonathan his mom and his grandmother.
Combined funeral services will be held for Michelle Pinkowski, Jonathan Culpepper and Marylea Jordan at 11am on September 10th at the Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.

Tishomingo County voters OK beer, alcohol sales

IUKA, Miss. (AP) -- Tishomingo County is the latest Mississippi jurisdiction to legalize alcohol sales.
Voters approved the sale of liquor, wine and beer Tuesday, reports the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/13JCcix).
It wasn't clear referendums would pass until affidavit ballots were counted Wednesday.
With more than half Tishomingo County's voters casting ballots, legalizing alcohol passed by 42 votes, while legalizing beer and light wine passed by 73. The county borders Alabama and Tennessee.
Lawmakers legalized liquor at a proposed resort at the county's Bay Springs Lake in 2010, but it wasn't built.
Greene County voters legalized beer sales last year, while Corinth, New Albany and Senatobia have legalized alcohol sales under a 2012 law that allows cities to hold votes.
Mississippi has 13 remaining counties that allow no beer or alcohol sales.
