WBFF Fox 45 :: XFACTOR Contestants Bring Some Heat
The Top 8 performed for your vote tonight on the XFACTOR. 2 from each judges group remain. All the talk anywhere seems to be focused on one contestant in particular: 13 year old Carly Rose, who is mentored by pop princess Britney Spears. Rose sang Adele tonight and every social media platform out there blew up with comments. The judges say she is so good she is super human. L.A. Reid says he just prays every week that she messes up so that one of his contestants can win! Carly held that top spot last week. Voting is open now to determine who will get that spot this week. Emblem 3, one of the groups Simon Cowell is mentoring, went in tonight with one goal: getting that top vote spot held by Carly Rose. Some of the judges didn't care for their song choice, but L.A. Reid said he would sign them tonight and have his entire building behind them, that they are stars! The contestants weren't all the focus tonight. Judge Britney Spears premiered her new video with pop star Will.I.Am. The video is for her song "Scream and Shout", which is available for purchase on iTunes. Tomorrow, 2 contestants will be sent home, leaving the top 6 on the hit show. Tune in right here on FOX17 to find out who stays and who goes.

2 appellate court judges are stepping down
May 24, 2013 21:29 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Tennessee appellate court judges have notified Gov. Bill Haslam that they will not run for another term on the bench in the August 2014 retention election.

Patricia J. Cottrell, a judge on the Court of Appeals, and Joseph M. Tipton, who sits on the Court of Criminal Appeals bench, will both leave after September of next year.

The announcements come after the state legislature left Tennessee without a way to replace judges who step down or die when a commission expires at the end of next month.

Members of the soon-to-be-defunct Judicial Nominating Commission will make recommendations for replacements to give to Haslam before the panel expires. Haslam will appoint the replacements from those recommendations.
