American Idol
This year's American Idol champ is busy working on his new album. As FOX's Ashley Dvorkin shows us, it's one of many things Scotty McCreery has been doing the last few weeks. The country crooner went straight from winning the American Idol crown to country music's center stage. Getting lots of buzz at this year's CMA Music Festival, the Season 10 winner relishes the attention, but realizes he has a lot of work ahead of him.
"I'm still feeling like I'm a newbie," says McCreery. "Still feel like I gotta pay my dues in Nashville, but I'm having fun, a lot of fun."
The 17 year old North Carolina native is already one step ahead of the game, understanding the importance of his loyal fan base.
"The fans stuck by me and Lauren since day 1 and I mean it showed cause we had a country finale," says McCreery. "It's really cool to see because these people, they were our #1 fans."
Plus, he's been getting advice from some country superstars.
"I think it's cool to get these people's advice and feedback because they've been doing this for so long," says McCreery. "I just started a couple of months ago on some show called American Idol."
As he moves forward, he also knows that eventually he's going to have to part ways with his fellow country-bound runner-up Lauren Alaina.
"We're both trying to make it separately as artists," says McCreery. "So you know and then people are saying hopefully we can do a duet if things work out, but you know it's been cool for now."
In the meantime they get to rock out together, along with the 9 other finalists, on their cross country Season 10 concert tour.
"It's looking like a really good show and everybody kind of has their moments," says McCreery.
