American Idol
It's been four years since Kellie Pickler has released an album. Time
that has brought out a different side of the feisty, funny and down to
earth country girl we all loved on American Idol.
"It's just a little ole book of my life but in songs" says Pickler.
Like the album title suggests, 100 Proof is 100 percent Pickler!
"Songs like "I Wonder" and "Red High Heels", that's Kellie too! This is just a different way of expressing Kellie" she says.
Weaved
throughout the eleven tracks are songs that show more of a serious side
of the struggles that have made her who she is today.
"Everybody
swerves and hits a pot hole now and then. You just brush it off get up
and keep going". That's the message that Pickler hopes fans will take
from the albums first single "Tough".
"When people hear the word
tough they think "Errrrr" and i got that too, but this song is about
being emotionally tough" explains Pickler.
Another personal song
is "Mothers Day", a track written by Kellie and her husband Kyle, that
wasn't originally meant for anyone to hear.
"This song is kinda
where "I Wonder" left off A lot has happened in my life and I Wonder is
where I was at that time. Everyone goes through the anger process, mad,
hurt, this and that, but then you realize that none of that is making
it better not helping at all. you are still hurting so you have to
forgive and move forward" says Pickler.
The album isn't all serious.
"The
first track is "Where is Tammy Wynette" and when you hear the lick, the
first verse right away you know you are about to listen to a country
record and i love that" says Kellie.
From tracks that show her
wild side, to songs like "Cheatin' On Me", Kellie says she is proud of
the album and is excited for fans to her her story, that is written and
sung with a little help from those that have influenced her along the
way!
"This album really showcases the people that inspired me but is still my record. It's still Kellie"
100 Proof is available January 24th!
