BREAKING: Vanderbilt wins College World Series with 3-2 win over Virginia

OMAHA, Neb. (FOX 17) -- The Vanderbilt Commodores win the College World Series with a 3-2 victory over Virginia.

It's the school's first national championship for a men's athletic program.

John Norwood broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run to left field.  It's the first, and only, home run the Black and Gold hit in Omaha.

The Vanderbilt pitching staff limited Virginia to 5 hits, while striking out 11 Cavaliers.

Vanderbilt 2nd baseman Dansby Swanson is named the CWS Most Valuable Player.
