Titans All Access - WZTV FOX 17 - Fantasy Football Draft 2014: Buffalo Bills
Fantasy Football Draft 2014: Buffalo Bills
E.J. Manuel, QB: It's still too early to consider Manuel anything more than a #3 quarterback. As a pick in a dynasty or keeper league he has some value, but even then, taking up a roster spot for Manuel isn't recommended. Take the wait and see approach with Manuel. He'll be there on waivers unless you play in a deeper league.

Sammy Watkins, WR: Whether it's from all the hype of being drafted as the top wide receiver this year or his speed, Watkins is for some reason being drafted as the 31st wideout overall. Yes, he has amazing speed and can be a game breaker, but he hasn't shown it at the professional level. In fact, during the Hall of Fame game, if you watched closely you'll see why Watkins didn't come down with a catch. The Giants played press coverage during the first series and Watkins couldn't get into his routes or get separation. It wasn't until Prince Amukamara played off Watkins that he was even able to get in position for a catch.
The same issue happened against Carolina, but Watkins was able to haul in three passes because the defender gave him a cushion. In his third matchup, he suffered a rib injury as a result of the corner tangling up with Watkins. This should be concerning to anyone considering drafting Watkins. It's still early and there's plenty of time to adjust, but defenses are not going to let him use his speed freely.

He is not worth being drafted as a borderline #3 wideout in standard drafts. You're safer going with the likes of Kendall Wright, Eric Decker and Riley Cooper, all who are being selected after Watkins in drafts.

Mike Williams, WR: If Watkins is over-rated, Williams is under-rated. The former Buccaneer was released from the team after yet another off-the field incident, but it wasn't for lack of potential. The Syracuse product only played in six games last season after being injured. Now, he's with the Bills and re-unites with his former college coach Doug Marrone. Williams knows Marrone's system and so far has shown he is the clear-cut #1 wideout. Even with Vincent Jackson in Tampa, Williams amassed 996 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2012. For those that argue his potential as the focus of the secondary in Buffalo, Williams also carried the Bucs with 14 touchdowns and 1,735 yards receiving during his rookie and sophomore years with the team as their lone threat. Williams will be available well into the later rounds. Ask yourself how many #1 receivers you can score in the 8th round? Don't forget his name come draft day.

C.J. Spiller/ Fred Jackson, RB: Wash, Rinse and Repeat. We know this story and know what to expect from these guys. Don't expect things to change. Spiller carries more upside with his ability to break the long run at any moment and Jackson is Old Reliable. The only rule here is that Jackson is among one of the few must-handcuffs in the league.
