Titans All Access - WZTV FOX 17 - Fantasy Football Draft 2014: Detroit Lions
Fantasy Football Draft 2014: Detroit Lions
Matthew Stafford, QB: New head coach Jim Caldwell helped turn former Bucs quarterback Shaun King into an NFC champion. He was there for Peyton Manning's Super Bowl winning season and he turned Joe Flacco into a Super Bowl winning quarterback. Now, he gets Stafford to work with. Stafford has finished no worse than 11th at the position in fantasy scoring the last three seasons.

He has the most talented wide receiver in the league on one side and now has upgraded to Golden Tate on the other side. He also gets Joique Bell, a dynamic runner and pass catcher back in the lineup to go with Reggie Bush. He also gets Eric Ebron, Joseph Fauria and Brandon Pettigrew at tight end. This very well could be the most-potent offense Stafford has ever had to work with. The best part is he comes relatively cheap. He's currently being drafted in the early fifth round of drafts, a bargain for a guy who could be a top three quarterback this year.

Calvin Johnson, WR: Do you really have to ask?

Golden Tate, WR: He had the best year of his career in 2013, notching career-highs across the board in Seattle's run-first, conservative offense. While he's coming to a better situation, Tate's 898 yards and five scores are right on par with Nate Burleson's numbers opposite Megatron. Expect a slight improvement from Tate, but he will still be no better than a solid #3 WR option.

Eric Ebron, Joseph Fauria & Brandon Pettigrew, TE: Last season, Fauria was the red zone specialist and Pettigrew was the guy who got them there. After drafting Eric Ebron, the Lions hope they have the best of both worlds. Just how things will shake out for Ebron remains to be seen, especially with Tate in the mix. If you're going to draft two tight ends, then Ebron is the only one worth selecting as a backup. Otherwise, track his workload Week 1 and you can hopefully snatch him off the waiver wire. Reggie Bush, RB: The USC product notched the second-best rushing and receiving totals of his career in 2013, carrying the load for Detroit's backfield.

Though Bush racked up the mileage, Joique Bell was the benefactor, scoring 8 touchdowns with just 219 total touches (rushes receptions) compared to Bush's 303 total touches. Mikel Leshoure is also back in the mix, so don't expect Bush to finish 11th among running backs again. With a slight decrease in production, expect Bush to settle just outside the top 20 this season. He's currently being drafted in the second round, too high given all the changes to the team this season. Wait until the third if he's available and don't overreach.
