Titans All Access - WZTV FOX 17 - Fantasy Football Draft 2014: San Diego Chargers
Fantasy Football Draft 2014: San Diego Chargers
Philip Rivers, QB: Rivers was a big surprise in 2013, finishing 6th among all fantasy quarterbacks. He posted career-highs in completions and completion percentage while notching his second-highest total in touchdowns. All of this while having no true stud out wide. Keenan Allen will once again be Rivers' top-target and the short passing game seems to have finally given Rivers something he's comfortable with. His execution of the offense was excellent under Mike McCoy and now he just needs some more success in the red-zone to take the next step.

Keenan Allen, WR: The most impressive stat on Allen is he did most of the damage in just 13 games. From Week 3 on, the wideout totaled nearly all of his 1,046 yards and all of his 8 scores. The better news is he was good even when he was bad. In three games where he totaled 59 yards or less, he racked up five scores. In five games he totaled 100 or more yards, he racked up three touchdowns. In those 13 games, he also notched 33 red zone targets. There's good reason to think the trend will continue in 2014. Allen figures to be Rivers' top target and it will be interesting to see what he can do in a full season as a starter.

Ladarius Green, Antonio Gates TE: Green is the guy jumping off draft boards because of his high ceiling, but Gates is still the one to own, especially considering the value difference. In nine games played, Green totaled just three games with five or more targets. Gates on the other hand, had eight games with eight or more targets, 8 games with 50 or more yards and finished with 4 scores compared to Green's goose egg. Green was also targeted just four times in the red-zone compared to Gates'22 targets. Green carries and ADP of 122 overall compared to Gates' 151st average selection spot.

Ryan Mathews, RB: The oft-injured running back surpassed everyone's expectations last year because he was finally healthy for a whole season. The Fresno State product did a bulk of his damage in last four weeks, amassing 363 yards and four total touchdowns. Despite finishing 12th at the position, fantasy owners are letting him drop until the 41st overall pick. You can understand the hesitation given his history and fear it was a fluke. He also faces the 12th-hardest strength of schedule, so his current ADP is pretty accurate.
