Disturbing 'Rape Me' Ads

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

---Sparking debate this morning,  what if your jilted ex put out an online ad with your picture and address soliciting sex,  even rape? It's exactly what's happening in some states.

Right now, lawmwakers say it's time to make the crime a felony. Some cases include women who had 20 to 100 come to their home demanding violent sex, because someone put up an ad on Craigslist.

One woman spent many nights last year clutching a gun to ward off more than 50 men who showed up at her home. It's all because her ex posted ads across the city, including one that said "rape me and my daughters."

Maryland Senator Brian Frosh hopes to make the crime a felony, with up to a 20-year sentence. So far, 6 states have passed laws making this a crime.

U.S. lawmakers are also expected to consider the so-called "revenge porn" bill that would make it illegal to post sexually explicit photos of someone without the person's consent.
