CHAMPAIGN, Il. -- Students at the University of Illinois decided to vent online because they had to go to class in the extreme cold.

The chancellor sent a message saying class would be in session. But more than 8,000 students signed a petition to change the chancellors mind.
Some students jumped on the bandwagon, adding racial slurs and sexist comments about the chancellor.
Many students say they took it too far.
Students and alumni posted tweets saying the comments were not acceptable. No word on if the students will be disciplined.
