Toronto Woman Sues Family of Boy She Killed

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

A Toronto woman who hit and killed a teenager riding his bike and injured another is now suing HIS family because her "enjoyment of life has been irretrievably lessened."

17-year-old Brandon Majewski and two friends were riding their bikes down a road in October of 2012 when Sharlene Simon struck Brandon and one of the boys, killing him and injuring one of the others.

Simons is now suing all three of the boy's families after police said it the boys' lack of visibility was the main contributing factor in the accident. Simon was never charged because there was "no reasonable prospect of a conviction."

Her suit also takes aim at the county, stating they didn't do a good enough job at ensuring it was well lit and in good repair.

Her lawyer says she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and has been unable to work since the accident.
