Nashville Electric Service Warns Against Scams

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

NASHVILLE, Tn.-- Nashville Electric Service (NES) is warning against scammers targeting their customers demanding immediate payment or face their power getting shut off.

A caller contacts customers posing as an NES employee and says the customer must purchase a prepaid credit card or money order then call a specific number. Once the customer calls that number, they hear a fake NEW recording and are asked to give the credit card number to process payment.

NES says to use caution when paying over the phone and real NES employees never call or request personal information like credit card numbers or personal information. If a customer has questions, they can call customer relations at (615) 736-6900.

Fox 17's Meagan O'Halloran will have the latest details on these scams affecting residents tonight on Fox 17 News at 9 and 10pm
