Tennessee to Post Daily Death Totals on Signs Above Highways

NASHVILLE, Tn. (AP)--The state of Tennessee will resume putting daily traffic death totals on signs over interstates.

The totals have been reserved for Friday postings only, but due to a spike in deaths the last half of the year, the Tennessee Department of Transportation hopes a daily posting can help curb those totals.

Monthly totals are regularly topping 2012 numbers for this last half of the year. There will be a big push during Thanksgiving. Highway Patrol Troopers will be posted every 20 miles along I-40 during peak travel times Wednesday and Sunday Thanksgiving week.
