Youth Football Coach Charged with Road Rage Incident - John Dunn

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

CLARKSVILLE, TN -- A youth football coach charged with a road rage incident in Clarksville is speaking out. Police say Travis Delozier threatened a teenager with a knife. He is now suspended from the football league and proclaiming his innocence.

Clarksville Police arrested Travis Delozier on Fort Campbell Boulevard Friday. Delozier was in a blue pickup and police claim he threatened the teen after the juvenile cut him off. "Just because something is posted does not mean it's always true," says Travis Delozier.

Delozier has coached a youth football team for seven years. After his arrest he was suspended by the league. "That's the roughest part right now of all of this, besides the legal matters, whatever, this is killing me," says Delozier.

Police say the evidence is convincing. A female officer says she witnessed Delozier's erratic driving on Ft. Campbell Blvd., and when she pulled him over she says she found evidence of marijuana cigarettes. "She found a black pocket knife on the dashboard," adds Clarksville Police spokesperson Officer Natalie Hall.
We asked Travis Delozier about the specific charges and evidence against him, but he wouldn't talk about that. His attorney says he must be presumed innocent. "Nothing illegal was found on Mr. Delozier's person. There is no witness that will come to bear in this case that will corroborate that account of events, none," says attorney Fletcher Long.

A group of football parents started a petition to get Delozier reinstated as coach. "We don't agree with the allegations that are going toward him, we don't agree with that at all," says parent Dyon Coffee.
Meanwhile Delozier eagerly awaits his day in court. "I want to get out there and let people know the side of my story. Please don't judge me before you have all the facts," says Delozier.

Travis Delozier will be arraigned this Friday on aggravated assault and simple drug possession charges. Delozier will likely miss the junior pro football playoffs during his suspension.
