REPORT: Wal-Mart Employee Verbally Warned for Praying With Friend Inside Store

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

In an email reportedly sent to the website Gawker, a reader expressed his concern after being told he shouldn't pray while at work.

The reader stated he works at a Wal-Mart location and is a legally ordained and licensed independent Christian minister. He is also a member of the Christian Chaplains Corps of America, a volunteer service organization which supports military vets, active duty soldiers and first-responders in communities.
He is also a Wal-Mart maintenance associate.

The writer says a friend came into the store one day and the two decided to pray quietly together inside the store. An associate allegedly saw the two praying and claimed they were caused psychological trauma and had to see a psychiatrist as a result of being offended by the praying.

When the man was questioned on the occurrence by managers, he admitted to praying with a friend and told he could not pray while on the clock. He says he was given a verbal warning and now prays silently.
