NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Thanksgiving only comes once a year. For Brandon Styll and his friends wearing a mustache is an annual event as well.

Brandon Styll said, " We kind of grew mustaches because we thought it was funny and a good excuse to do it."

The excuse is prostate cancer awareness which is celebrated world-wide through Movember. "Mo" is slang for mustache and combined with November equals "Movember." The month-long celebration challenges men to grow a mustache to fight against men's cancers.

For the last five years, Brandon along with his co-workers at Fresh Point "grew a mo, to save a bro. "  This Movember became personal for Styll. His father, John was diagnosed with prostate cancer just a few months ago.

Brandon Styll said, "You go from trying to raise money and doing things for men's health... prostate cancer awareness to... wow this all of a sudden a real story. All of a sudden that word cancer..."

John Styll explained, " A shock, there's no cancer in our family. I had no symptoms what so ever which is why I wear a mustache because I want to urge men and remind men, even if you don't think you need to... you need to get your PSA checked."

Sitting around the campfire this Thanksgiving, the father and son say they are more thankful. John underwent surgery a month ago, right now he is cancer free. The entire family celebrated today, even Brandon's three-month-old son, William who wore a mustache pacifier.

Brandon added " I want him to be the influence in my sons life that he has been in mine."

John said, " I appreciate what Brandon and the others are out there doing raising money and awareness because its so real."

Movember in Nashville wraps up with a party this Saturday. The 2nd annual Nashville Stache Bash starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Listening Room Cafe. The event is open to the public. For more information on tickets and getting involved in Movember, CLICK HERE!
