NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Just days after polishing off Halloween's sweet treats and just weeks before cutting into the pies on the Thanksgiving dessert table, The American Heart Association wants to remind you to eat healthy, at least for today.

November 6 is National Eating Healthy Day.  On this day, American's are encouraged to make small, healthy changes in what they eat by adding one new healthy food and cutting one unhealthy food from their diet.

Healthy eating habits can help reduce risk factors for heart attack and stroke, according to The American Heart Association. They also say that cardiovascular diseases are the nation's leading cause of death.

A special National Eating Healthy Day event is today at the Bellevue YMCA from 9 - 11 a.m. where information on healthy eating will be available.
