BMI Gives Dean Dillon the BMI Icon Award

NASHVILLE, Tn -- BMI held their 61st annual BMI Country Awards Tuesday evening on Music Row. The publishing rights organzation takes this one night a year to celebrate the songwriters and publishers who work hard to craft songs. Sometimes those songwriters are the artists you know, but other times they are just the names you see on the album, which is why it's so important that they have their own night. In addition to awards like country song and songwriter of the year, every year one person is named the BMI Icon. This year that went to Dean Dillon, who is responsible for more classics than we can count. Fox 17 Entertainment Reporter Stacy McCloud had a chance to chat with Dillon as well as several big stars - who say this honor is well deserved.
Dillon tells Stacy that if there is one person he wishes he could have written for/with .. it's Elvis! He also says that his own icons are Merle Haggard, Tom T. Hall and James Taylor
