ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. -- An elderly woman is dead after a Cheatham County house fire.

The Ashland City Fire Department confirms the death of a 69-year-old woman in the 2 a.m. fire on Hill Road off Old Hydes Ferry Road in Ashland City. The woman's son went to Vanderbilt Medical Center with burns to his hands. He has since been released.

The landlord of the home tells FOX 17 News that the victim is Ann Williams.

The home is destroyed. The Ashland City Fire Department says they arrived in 6 minutes to the house fully involved. They say a refrigerator was blocking a back door in the rear of the house when they tried to make entry.

The fire is not thought to be suspicious. No word on the cause. It is under investigation by the Cheatham County Sheriff's Department and the state fire marshal's office.
