Freeze Warning, Cumberland Plateau Advisory

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend. A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night. Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area. Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro. Breezy NW winds will add to the chill. In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

Tenn. Leads the Nation in Cell Phone-Related Fatal Crashes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A recent National Safety Council study says Tennessee reported 93 cell phone related fatal crashes in 2011. That's more than 10 times the amount in Kentucky, and more than 4 times as many as California, a state with a population 6 times larger. Tennessee's Governor's Highway Safety Office says Tennessee Leads the nation, and they're working to battle a growing problem. Tuesday night FOX17 NEWS will introduce you to a family who lost their son to distracted driving, and you'll learn what the state says is the real reason behind the high number of distracted driving deaths.
