NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tonight, while most of us are bundling up, thousands of less fortunate folks in the Midstate are stuck in the cold. One local charity is trying to help as many people stay warm as possible.

Tonight Rescue Mission's cold patrol is out on the streets.

Volunteers are driving around and offering homeless people the chance to get a break from the cold and sleep in the Mission's warm shelter.

Pastor Ed Grimes says some nights it's a matter of life or death.

"Last year we lost a guy due to the cold weather one guy actually died on the streets," said Grimes.

The Rescue Mission can house as many as 700 people in their shelter on S 7th Street. The cold patrol goes out any time the temperature is around or below 32 degrees.
