Veterans Day Events Held in Middle Tennessee

Middle Tennessee Veterans Day Events:

The annual Veterans Day parade begins in Lebanon at the corner of 108 South Hatton & West Main Street at 10:30 a.m. in front of the library, winding its way on West Main Street to the square up East Main and the Wilson County Courthouse, where the ceremony honoring all veterans will get underway promptly at 11 a.m.

 The annual parade will begin its 10-block route at 11 a.m. from Broadway at 13th Avenue.  It will conclude on Broadway at 3rd Avenue.  Commerce Street between 2nd and 4th Avenues and 3rd Avenue from Church Street to Korean Veterans Boulevard will be closed at 10:30 a.m. to allow for dispersal of parade elements. The Broadway exit from I-40 will be closed at 9:30 a.m.  The Demonbreun Street, Church Street and Charlotte Avenue exits will be open.

The groundbreaking for the Wilson County Veterans Park & Museum, $1.2 million project  will be on Veterans Day, Nov. 11 at the Wilson County Courthouse. The Veterans Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. with a ceremony at 11 a.m. and the ground breaking will follow that at around noon.

Manchester's annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday on the Manchester downtown square. Country singer Naomi Judd will honor her former nursing supervisor and longtime mentor Althea Cimino at the ceremony. This marks the first time that a woman will be recognized and honored at the event.

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month of today, the City of Tullahoma will pause to honor America's Veterans and celebrate their contributions to our way of life. Mayor Lane Curlee and the Tullahoma Board of Aldermen invite veterans and the public to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony to be held at the Tullahoma Events Center at 205 Northwest Atlantic Street. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m.

Local veterans services organizations will hold a Veterans Day celebration tomorrow in Cookeville, with an open house from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and a parade to start at 11 a.m.

On Veterans Day, Grayline of Tennessee is offering free Music City Trolley Hop tours (and casino tours) to any Veterans who wish to participate.
Gibson Brands, Ryman Auditorium and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members Lynyrd Skynyrd will pay homage to vets with a special Veterans Day celebration and fundraiser today. Prior to the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert tonight, the Ryman will host a pre-show plaza party starting at 5 p.m.  Attendees will enjoy live music while they check out guitars which are to be auctioned online and as part of a silent auction at the concert.  

Lipscomb University will honor veterans at the Bison basketball game versus Oakland City. Miltary, veterans, and their families enter the game for free. They will be recognized for their service and some free give-aways will take place throughout the game.

A 5 p.m. Veterans Day event will be held inside Brentwood's Municipal Center. A patriotic art piece that will include an area to display names of Brentwood residents currently serving in war zones will be unveiled at a military service recognition ceremony. Marine Lance Corporal Ben Maenza and Army Specialist Andrew Wilson. Both Brentwood natives lost  their legs while serving in Afghanistan.

In recognition of the service, commitment and dedication of the American military community, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts will offer free admission for active-duty, retired, Reserve and National Guard Service members and their families on Veterans Day.

Shoney's restaurants will be providing free All-American Cheeseburgers to Veterans and Active Duty military today.

Cantina Laredo is honoring the country's servicemen with an exclusive Veterans Day special. Any veteran or active duty military personnel may enjoy a free entre (up to $15) from Cantina Laredo's authentic, modern Mexican cuisine today. The offer is valid for lunch or dinner with proof of military service.

Chili's restaurants will continue the Veterans Day tradition of offering free entrees to veterans and active military personnel dining at any of Chili's more than 1,200 restaurants nationwide today.

Tennessee State Parks' annual Free State Parks Day for all Tennessee veterans offers one free night of camping and/or a complimentary round of golf with appropriate identification today.
