Christmas For Kids Bus Tour

NASHVILLE, TN - - One night every year the Wal-Mart parking lot in Hendersonville looks like this. Tour busses decorated inside and out and country fans lined up to go inside."We open up our home on wheels. So for them to see the gypsy life we live is cool. It's a small price to pay for what we get out of this." says Lee Roy of The Roys.

Michelle Ayello and Liz Lechleitner are here for the second year in a row. They drove a long way just for this event. "It's nice to help people in other communities and states than the state you are in." says Michelle.

The cousins are anxious to see those with well known names. "George used to do this and I loved it then" says Nancy Jones.

But equally excited to meet newcomers like Katie Belle Akin. "To get to meet people and make new fans is amazing" says Katie. "When they become famous you can say I met them at the bus tour" says Michelle.

The drivers  have just as much fun as the artists and fans. Ray Rascon has been bringing his bus to this event since 1988. This year he dressed up like Santa and spent hours decorating in hopes of winning best decorated bus. "I try to get everyone in a festive mood. Cheer em up some" says Rascon, who like everyone else is here for the kids.

All the money from the bus tour goes toward a shopping spree. A warm coat and 150 dollars  for every child to buy whatever they want. "We have been blessed by God so we are just giving back. Great thing to be a part of  it all." says Stewart Halcomb, member of "The Springs". "Giving back means so much, just a little time for these kids that in need i. It's wonderful" says Lisa Matassa.

A few bucks per person, that gives country fans a night they will always remember and mid state kids a Christmas they will never forget. "There are no words it really does bring back the true meaning of Christmas" says Elaine Roy of The Roys.
