Nashville, Tenn--Metro police are investigating the death of a 17 year old girl who attended Hume Fogg. The victim is Elena Zamora. Zamora was hit and killed by a tractor trailer Thursday afternoon while walking across Church and Rosa Parks Boulevard.

Officers say Troy Devitt of Florence Alabama was making a right hand turn when he hit the girl. Police are investigating whether Devitt should have allowed the teen to cross the street even though he had the green light.

Zamora was a junior at Hume Fogg and was expected to graduate in 2015. Metro school officials say counselors will be at the magnet high school Friday to help students deal with Zamora's death.

Police say Devitt drives for Service One Transportation in Alabama. No charges have been filed at this time.
