Nashville, Tenn -- Preston Bronaugh had good reason to worry about his truck when he heard sqealing tires early Thursday morning.

The sounds were coming from a high speed police chase that was headed right towards his mother's Jefferson Street house.

That chase ended when the car police were chasing crashed into Bronaugh's truck and sent it flying into the home's living room.

"It bothers you to have something like that happen in your domain where you live and the fact that I love my truck is another issue," said Bronaugh.

The story of how that car came to be involved in a high speed chase in the first place is complex.

There were three people inside when it crashed.

Derrick Thomas, 16, was the driver.

Passenger Kristopher Howard, 16, was ejected and killed.

Carmilla Ellison, 36, was another passenger.

Police say the car was likely stolen Monday by the two young men who robbed its owner at gunpoint.

Those two are believed to be responsible for a similar robbery Sunday.

Carmilla Ellison's son Charles says his mother had no idea the car was stolen when she got into it Christmas night.

He says both teens were friends with his brother and students at Pearl Cohn High School who come ofter often.

"If I would've known my momma wouldn't have gotten in the car," said Charles Ellison.

Police disagree.

They've Charged Ellison with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and auto theft.

Thomas faces charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, evading police, driving without a license, curfew violation and auto theft.

"He made his choices you know it's unfortunate and it's a shame it had to go that way," said Bronaugh.
