Nashville, Tenn--The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into the possible theft of the personal information of 6,000 state and Metro Nashville-Davidson County employees. The investigation is focusing on former state Treasury Department employee Steven Hunter.

Agents say after Hunter resigned his job, it was discovered he sent personal information about the workers from his state email account to his personal email address.

TBI says the information included social security numbers, full names, dates of birth and home addresses. Agents raided Hunter's Hermitage home Friday night and say they seized computers containing the information.

Agents say Hunter was hired this summer by the Treasury Department to contact vendors doing business with the state. They say the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed. The District Attorney General will review the case once TBI completes its investigation.
