Man Selling Business To Help Save Employee's Life

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

(KEYE)-- 19-year-old Brittany Mathis' father died in 2000 after an undiagnosed brain tumor ruptured and killed him. After going to the hospital to check on a rash, Brittany has found out she too has a brain tumor.

Both Brittany and her mother work at the Kaiserhof Restaurant in East Texas. The teenager doesn't have health insurance and desperately needs to have tests done to find out if her tumor is cancerous.

But instead of being forced to pile up medical bills in a fight for her life, Brittany's boss is doing something unheard of...

He's selling his restaurant.

WATCH: Interview with Brittany and Restaurant Owner

Michael De Beyer is selling his family's restaurant to donate money to Brittany's care. He says that Brittany and her mother "work really hard" and despite having "a lot of stuff against them in the past, they are not holding their hand open. They didn't even ask anybody for help."
