NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A suspicious man paying for a private jet with $20,000 cash last night at a Nashville airport was arrested for money laundering.

Airport police were alerted Monday night of the huge cash transaction that had just been made and brought out K9, who detected the presence of a narcotic odor, according to the affidavit. They make contact with the individual, 33-year-old Conor Guckian, who then tells police that he has a large amount of cash on him.

In a search, police discover $153,000 in Guckian's luggage in 32 bundles. K9 again indicate a presence of narcotic odor from the money.

While being interviewed, Guckian allegedly admits to structuring money in his bank accounts to be under $10,000 in order to avoid government detection. He also tells police the money he is transporting from New York to California is to purchase gold, according to the affidavit.

Guckian says he was taking the private jet because he felt safer on it than a commercial airline, however, he also tells police that he flew a commercial airline from Rochester, N.Y., to Chicago, and from there to Nashville.

Guckian, who says he has a previous arrest in New York for possession for resale of cocaine, is in the Davidson County Jail on $10,000.
