:  FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A judge on Friday ordered a Texas hospital to remove life support for a pregnant, brain-dead woman.

Judge R. H. Wallace Jr. issued the ruling in the case of Marlise Munoz. John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth has been keeping Munoz on life support against her family's wishes. The judge gave the hospital until 5 p.m. CST Monday to remove life support.

ORIGINAL STORY: Marlise Munoz was found unconscious by her husband at their home on November 26th of last year. She was rushed to the hospital where she was declared brain-dead. Her husband, Erick, asked the hospital take her off life-support machines in an effort to acknowledge her wishes, but the hospital refused.

Marlise was pregnant.

Texas law keeps a hospital from taking a person off life-support if that person is pregnant. However, attorneys representing the Munoz family revealed in court the fetus is "distinctly abnormal" given the lack of oxygen over time and "gestating within a dead and deteriorating body." Attorneys added the gender of the fetus can't even be identified because the "lower extremities are deformed."

Munoz' situation has spurred debate between pro-life and pro-choice supporters. Weigh in on our Facebook Page and tell us what you believe is the right decision.
