Davidson Co. District Attorney Torry Johnson Won't Seek Re-Election

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- A big announcement by Davidson County District Attorney Torry Johnson, Johnson says he will not seek re-election to the position he has held for more than 26 years.    

According to a new release from his office, Johnson was first appointed to the job by former Governor Ned McWherter. Johnson went on to win re-election three more times.


During his time in office, Johnson helped to establish the Nashville Children's Alliance. According to the release, the program offers support and counseling services for children who are sexually and physically abused.


Johnson is a graduate of Vanderbilt Law school.  He says he plans to explore other opportunities when his current term expires in August.
