Health Matters: Menopause and Hormone Replacement

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Mood swings, irritability and depression in mid-life women could all be symptoms of menopause and they can be relieved. Tami Pate began seeing Nurse Practitioner Karen Mundy at Better You just a year and a half ago. Pate says she was experiencing extreme anxiety and panic attacks. She couldn't eat, sleep, didn't want to talk and was losing weight. She knows she's not the only woman who's lived like this.

She was diagnosed pre-menopausal and began pellet therapy, which replaces hormones, restoring balance in the body.

Though not a new approach to achieving hormone balance, the pellets are not a traditional approach like birth control pills or topicals. These tiny pellets are inserted under the skin into the hip area and gradually absorb into the body. Better You is one of the few centers that use this method. Better You cautions hormone replacement therapy isn't for everyone. The center focuses on treating each patient individually, cautiously and follows up frequently with its patients.
