Alabama Pastor Arrested at BNA on Murder Charges Planned to Flee to Marry Boyfriend

The Alabama pastor who was arrested at Nashville Airport for allegedly stabbing his wife to death was trying to catch a flight out of town to marry his boyfriend. 

Prosecutors made the announcement Thursday, citing emails they obtained which stated Richard Lee Shahan was planning to leave the country for the UK and never to return. The Homewood pastor's bond was set at $100,000.

Alabama.com reports prosecutor Leigh Gwathney as stating "He planned to become a citizen there and begin a new life with his boyfriend... who he intended to marry. He had no intention of ever returning to the United States. He had no home to return to and he had said his goodbyes to his family."
