Snow Creates Few Problems in Hopkinsville -- Sky Arnold

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. --- Ray Palmer grabbed his bucket of salt after noticing the Planters Bank parking lot looked a lot like the one he nearly fell on earlier Thursday morning.

"When I was at the courthouse today when I got out of the vehicle my foot slipped, fortunately slid into the sidewalk," said Palmer.

The slippery parking lots are the result of a morning of snow and dropping temperatures.

Hopkinsville saw some of the heavier snow accumulations in the Fox 17 coverage area but the white stuff didn't cause many problems for drivers.

Police say they actually had no accidents period Thursday morning.
"It was normal driving in it.  I didn't have no problem with it," said Hopkinsville driver Dominicka Matlock.

The Weather Channel estimates accumulation at .8 of an inch.

It was barely enough for sledding but Jacob Crossett and his friends tried anyway.

"It's rough cause there's like no snow or ice," said Crosset.

It's why even with the snow Crosset and his friends switched back to riding skateboards.
