NASHVILLE, Tenn. - McGavock high school students are preparing from a visit from president Obama but they're also dealing with a shooting that left one of their classmates dead and another behind bars.

Tuesday night, a gun went off in the Burning Tree Apartments, killing 15-year-old Kevin Barbee.

"We so often take life for granted that to think that a friend could lose his life so quickly has definitely made an impact on our students, said Robbin Wall, principal.

Hours later, 17-year-old Kaemon Robinson surrendered to police.

Robinsons attorney Kyle Mothershead says his client did not mean to shoot Barbee.

Robinson is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Obamas visit is expected to go on as scheduled.
