NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Grief counselors will be on hand at McGavock High School today for students mourning the loss of a student, just before the President of the United States is scheduled to visit there.

Metro Police say 15-year-old Kevin Barbee died at an apartment on Burning Tree Drive after being shot by a friend Tuesday night. Kaemon Robinson, 17, is charged with criminal homicide this morning after leaving the scene. Witnesses say Robinson was playing with the pistol when it discharged hitting Barbee in the face.

McGavock Principal Robin Wall tells FOX 17 Reporter Justin McFarland that he does not expect this tragedy to affect President Barack Obama's visit to the school tomorrow, where he will deliver remarks.

Robinson surrendered to police overnight after leaving the scene following the shooting. The gun has not been recovered yet by police.
