Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TN - Braving the cold along Old Hillsboro Road near Old Natchez Trace in protest.
Neighbors there worry that a new subdivision going in will devastate the historic and scenic area.
But those in charge of the project say they're working toward compromise.

Laura Turner is among a handful of protestors with Citizens for Old Natchez Trace holding up signs and encouraging cars to honk in support of their fight against dense construction.

Heavy equipment is ready and the footings of the first house are in place.

But Turner says it doesn't fit.

A sign posted for the neighborhood called Hillsboro Cove boasts of 1-acre home sites.

Brandon Jenkins of Grove Park Construction tells Fox 17 that he and Bob Parks realty have listened to these concerns.

In the past week, they've redrawn plans to move the first lot on Old Hillsboro Road to the back so there won't be any lots facing Old Hillsboro Road.

He also says, "Bob Parks and I are moving forward with a paddock fenced conservation easement that should make everyone happy."

It's one step closer to a compromise toward preserving history.

Jenkins says in contrast to some of the signs against this project, none of the homes will be built in the new FEMA floodplain map.
He's not sure when he'll file for final plat approval.
