Provide Options for the Homeless

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Jarrett Sharp, pastor of a new church in Kodak called The Way, wants to help provide a new option for the homeless in Sevier County.

His church has launched a building campaign to put together what they are calling The Sanctuary, which will provide temporary housing for up to one month for a small number of homeless people.

Sharp says church members found that a lot of people who had lost their house or apartment went to campgrounds where they could stay in a tent for $10 a night while they figured out what to do and look for a job.

Officials say Sevier County does not currently have a homeless shelter.
