SAVING YOU MONEY:  Valentines, Food & Flying

Stacy Case

On a number of things---
From your grocery bill, to your next flight, to your true love.
Tonight, we start with Valentines Day,  a holiday consumers are predicted to spend $20 billion dollars on.
The average person will spend $136 dollars on Valentines Day this year---
but the sweet smell of savings is easier than you think.
First, let's start with bouquets on a budget--- go for a wrap.  That will save you 50% over flowers or roses in a vase...
And only get tight buds, they'll last longer.
Cut the delivery cost by $15 - $20 bucks by picking up yourself at your local florist, grocer or warehouse store.
As the price of some foods continues to go up, Food Lion is out with a new couponing tool.
It's on the grocer's website and offers hundreds of additional coupons you won't find in the Sunday paper. You can print them or load them to your Food Lion card.
Remember, you can double your savings by using a store coupon like Food Lion's AND  a manufacturers coupon together on one item.
Finally, winter storms have forced the cancellation of sometimes thousands of flights in a single day.
But before heading to the airport to wait it out with the weather-stranded masses, check if airlines are waiving change fees, and go ahead and rebook a flight for free.
You're better off doing this as soon as the weather starts to look dicey, so you can grab a seat on a flight that will depart sooner rather than later.
