CADIZ, Kentucky - We've been monitoring conditions all night. There are power outages, flooding and trees down in several counties in Kentucky. The temperature is dropping. Freezing rain is falling. Snow is turning to slush. The ice is coating almost everything in sight and it's making the roads slick and dangerous. Police are out in full force in Trigg County responding to calls and patrolling roads and intersections. The weather is bad enough to keep 2 Floridians at a standstill. Lyle and Gwen Tripp hit the road early Tuesday morning from the town of Frostproof, Florida. With a name like that, you can tell they drove into anything but. The Tripp's are checking into a hotel and waiting out this winter storm before getting back on the road on their way to Illinois.

That's echoing the Sheriff's warning: Stay off the roads if you can. Right now Kentucky Transportation crews are salting the roads and plowing away the slush before it freezes. Even though people are urged to stay off the roads tonight, some people have no choice.
