Winter-Like Conditions Expected this Weekend

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend.  A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night.  Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area.  Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro.  Breezy NW winds will add to the chill.  Bring plants and pets indoors for the weekend and make sure outdoor vegetation is protected as well.In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

UPDATE: Monday Night North Nashville Murder Suspect Arrested

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --  A north Nashville murder suspect is behind bars.

Eric Lawler, 53, surrendered shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed to death his friend 32-year-old Demetrish Hillman at around 5 p.m. Monday. According to Metro Police, Lawler stabbed Hillman in the neck and chest when an argument ensued after Hillman threw a brick at his car.

Lawler ran away from the scene after the altercation. Hillman died at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Police helicopters searched for Lawler from the sky overnight.
Lawler has a lengthy arrest history, including a three year sentence for a 2010 aggravated assault. Lawler is being held without bond.

According to the affidavit, Lawler is claiming self-defense.
