About a year and a half ago, Andrea Berdine, of Hollister, Mo., was out resale shopping and could not believe it when she saw a man being denied a coat.

"He wasn't asking for money," she told station KY3. "He wasn't asking for a handout or somebody to enable him. He was cold, and he was wet, and he needed a coat."

The station reports she took to Facebook to vent and found people agreed. She started a group that would come together to help people as the needs arose.

"We would reach out on the Facebook group and say, hey, we have a mama who is in need of so and so item. And somebody would come up and say, hey, I have that here," she said.

Following a flood last year, a Hollister shopping center offered them space for their operations, and Selfless Blessings was born. Everything they have is for free to people in need. People can still contact the group through Facebook to make specific requests.
