HOPKINSVILLE, Ky -- The weather caused a car to collide with a train in Christian County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 33-year-old Kimberly A. Fernandez, of Hopkinsville, was driving on Kelly Church Road when she attempted to cross the railroad tracks.  Police say due to the icy road conditions, the vehicle became stuck on the railroad tracks.

When a train began to approach, Fernandez was able to remove her two juvenile children and herself and move to a safe distance before the train struck the vehicle. Fernandez and her children were not injured.
The train remained in service.
