MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --  Food on the stove displaces four residents from their Murfreesboro home after it catches fire.

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire at 427 State Street just after 8 p.m. Thursday. Heavy smoke was coming from the home when firefighters arrived.

The kitchen, attic, and eaves received significant fire damage. The house also has heavy smoke damage throughout.

The fire appears to have started in the kitchen as the result of cooking french fries on the stove.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
