NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A cigarette is to blame for two fires in Nashville.

A business fire at Surgery Solutions warehouse, on Owen Drive off Old Hickory Blvd., Antioch, occurred at around 12:30 a.m. The Nashville Fire Department district chief says a cigarette likely burned a deck connected to a loading dock.

Flames were seen from an interstate by a passerby who called 911. The building was not damaged, but the charred deck is destroyed. The business was not open at the time.

A house fire after 1:30 a.m. at 3801 Dartmouth Avenue in west Nashville is also caused by a cigarette, according to the fire chief. A woman fell asleep with a cigarette on the couch.

The neighbors heard the alarm caused by the smoke and called 911. The fire department made forced entry into the house, woke the woman up and got her out. She was not injured and fire damage was contained to the couch.
