NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Tennessee Titans have released kicker Rob Bironas. The 36-year-old would have accounted for $3.875 million against the team's 2014 cap.

The 9-year veteran leaves the Titans as one of the league's best kickers. He converted 25 of 29 field goal attempts last season while going a perfect 41 of 41 on extra-point conversions.

Bironas ranks night all-time with a 85.663% career field goal percentage and is 22nd all-time in career extra point conversions, kicking 99.369% through the uprights. He also owns tha all-time for most field goals made in a single game, notching 8 during the Titans 2007 matchup against the Houston Texans. Those 8 attempts also tie him for second in that category.

Although Bironas is 36, he could still have plenty of years in front of him. Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is still going at the age of 41 and had one of his best -if not the best- season of his career last season.
