Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

LA VERGNE, Tenn. -- A family is safe after a 2 Alarm fire engulfs their La Vergne home.

The family of four made it out of the house at 1509 Old Farm Trail before the house became fully involved at 3 a.m. The father was transported to the hospital with minor burns and a dislocated shoulder after trying to put out the fire.

The house is a total loss. The fire is believed to have started in a back bedroom, however, the fire is under investigation.

Wind was a factor overnight and helped fan the fire. Homes on either side of the burning house were threatened, prompting police to evacuate; but firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one structure.

Red Cross is assisting the family.

The Smyrna Fire Department assisted La Vergne.
